Days go by I can feel them flying Like a hand out the window in the wind As the cars go by Yeah, it's all we've been given So you better start living right now
We think about tomorrow, then it slips away Oh, yes it does We talk about forever but we've only got today And the days go by I can feel them flying Like a hand out the window As the cars go by It's all we've been given So you better start living You better start living Better start living right now
Oh, so take them by the hand They're yours and mine Take them by the hand And live your life Take them by the hand Don't let them all fly by Come on, come on now Yeah, come on, oh, ooh, ooh Don't you know the days go by?

On 7/25/22, we will celebrate nine years since we moved into Merry Mount.
“Time flies when you are having fun!” So many wonderful memories. 3,285 days have gone by!
As the “days go by”, we find ourselves in the same place-one called Merry Mount, but in a different time frame within that place. So instead of being on a horizontal time plane, we find ourselves in a perpetual circle that loops into NOW. How marvelous!
Time flows in the same way for all human beings; every human being flows through time in a different way.

But instead of counting years and days, perhaps it is more appropriate to ask, “How many hugs have we given or received from our children and granddaughters? How many laughs? How many naptime and bedtime stories have we read? How many personal stories have we shared? How many canine moments? How many wonderful meals have we shared with family and friends? How many magnificent sunsets have we seen?”
I have chosen a few photos that capture moments along that continuum.
As I reflect upon nine years, I return to the passage from Nathaniel Hawthorn’s short story that provided us with the name for our hobby farm:
“But May, or her mirthful spirit, dwelt all the year round at Merry Mount, sporting with the Summer months, and reveling with Autumn, and basking in the glow of Winter's fireside. Through a world of toil and care she flitted with a dreamlike smile, and came hither to find a home among the lightsome hearts of Merry Mount.”
