Am I Blue?

Joy and Eva: “Paddy, what are your three favorite colors?” Paddy: “Blue, Blue, & Blue”.

The human eye sees color over wavelengths ranging roughly from 400 nanometers (violet) to 700 nanometers (red).

Light from 400–700 nanometers (nm) is called visible light, or the visible spectrum because humans can see it.

The wavelengths of visible light are:

  • Violet: 380–450 nm (688–789 THz frequency)

  • Blue: 450–495 nm

  • Green: 495–570 nm

  • Yellow: 570–590 nm

  • Orange: 590–620 nm

  • Red: 620–750 nm (400–484 THz frequency)

Psychology of Blue

Blue, like green, is often found in nature. Ocean or lake water and the daytime sky… For this reason, it is not hard to understand why blue can be seen as a calm color of serenity.

On the other hand, blue can be seen to represent sadness or depression. The phrase feeling blue is representative of this… blue is a rather paradoxical color promoting positive and negative psychological associations.

Here's looking at you!

The Blues

Traditionally, the “blues” in music were songs sung by African Americans that dealt with heartbreak, love, and sex. The musical form of blues is the “12-bar” blues (A, A, B, Á)

I offer this blues containing a twist of irony and a complex rhythm.

I woke up this morning The sky was ever so blue, I woke up this morning The sky was astoundingly blue, My woman now left me, Now I can turn,

I can turn my blue eyes on you.

Blue eyes, laughin’ in the sun

Laughin’ in the rain

Baby’s got blue eyes

And I am home, and I am home again

from "Blue Eyes"- Elton John, Osborne Gary Anthony

Am I blue? Blue; Bleu; & Blau. Wow!

Blue Moon

From the song “Blue Moon” (not a "blues")

And then there suddenly appeared before me The only one my arms will ever hold I heard somebody whisper please adore me And when I looked the moon had turned to gold

Am I Bleu? Az-u-r!

P.S.

Song for 6/5/22

Up a lazy river where the robin's song Awakes the bright new morning Where we can move along Blue skies up above, everyone's in love Up a lazy river, how happy you could be Up a lazy river with me
